Let’s talk about microneedling / prp

Look at the skin, then choose the approach.

Microneedling uses small needles to create controlled punctures in the skin. FDA has authorized certain devices for specific uses, including some facial scars and wrinkles. The exact device, treatment area, and your medical history matter. [1]

PRP is prepared from your own blood and may be discussed separately. FDA has not cleared microneedling devices to deliver PRP, cosmetics, or other products into the skin. Evidence and risks for a combination approach need their own conversation. [1]

Your treatment, explained

Texture, acne scars, and treatment selection

A shallow acne scar, a raised scar, uneven pigment, and an active breakout are different problems. Tell Tatiana which changes bother you most and how long they have been present. Device selection and treatment settings should follow that assessment rather than a general promise of smoother skin.

Ask whether the proposed treatment is standard microneedling or another procedure. Adding radiofrequency, PRP, or a topical product changes the discussion. FDA clearance for a microneedling device does not establish that every combination treatment has been reviewed. [1]

FDA states there are no FDA-approved exosome products. Ask your clinician about the evidence and risks before considering any add-on product. [3]

Your treatment, explained

Prepare your routine and your calendar

Bring a list of skincare products and medications, including treatments for acne. Mention cold sores, problems with healing, recent sun exposure, and procedures you have had elsewhere. Ask what should be paused and when it can be restarted; do not stop prescribed medicine without advice.

Plan for your skin to look and feel different while it recovers. Confirm the guidance for cleansing, sun protection, makeup, exercise, and contact with treated skin. Written aftercare gives you something to refer to at home, and a contact number helps if recovery does not follow the expected course.

Recovery and follow-up

What to expect.
What to ask.

Know what to expect before you book.

Timing & follow-up

Redness, sensitivity, and other temporary changes can follow treatment. Recovery depends on the treatment and your skin. Ask when you can resume makeup, active skincare, and other procedures. [1]

Suitability & safety

Risks include bleeding, bruising, irritation, infection, and pigment changes. Some conditions or medicines can affect suitability. PRP adds a blood-draw and handling step, and its skin-rejuvenation benefits remain an area of research. [1][2]

Questions
we hear often.

Does microneedling work for every skin concern?

No. The concern, device, and suitability need to be assessed. Tell Tatiana what you notice and ask what the proposed treatment can realistically address.

Is PRP automatically part of the appointment?

No. Ask about the options separately, including their evidence, cost, and additional considerations.

How many treatments are needed?

An individual plan may include a series. Ask when response will be reviewed before committing to further visits.

Can I do this just before an event?

Leave time for recovery. Discuss your date and ask for a realistic recommendation based on your skin and treatment.

Can microneedling treat active acne?

Active breakouts or infection may change whether treatment is appropriate. The skin should be assessed first; acne scars and active acne are not the same concern.

Is microneedling with PRP FDA-approved?

FDA has not cleared microneedling devices for use with PRP or other added products. Ask for a separate explanation of the evidence, risks, and alternatives for a combination approach.

What about exosomes or other add-ons?

Ask about each product separately. FDA has not cleared microneedling devices for delivering PRP or other products into skin, and there are no FDA-approved exosome products. An add-on should not be presented as automatically safer or more effective.
